How to Begin a Personal Relationship with Jesus

What does it take to enjoy this personal
relationship with Jesus Christ?

  1. Understand that God is good (Luke 18:19)—He loves you, He created you for a purpose and He wants to help you.

  2. Understand that man has sinned. The Bible says "all have sinned. There is none righteous, no not one." (Romans 3:10) One can protest that he is a "good person" but no one is good enough to live a mistake-free, sin-free life.

  3. Sin brings death, and that brings eternal judgment. Yes, there really IS a heaven and hell. "The wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23) But God’s doesn’t want you or me to go there!

  4. Most of us are well aware of our shortcomings—those things we’ve done wrong, or those things we were SUPPOSED to do but didn’t. That guilty feeling, conviction of sin, is a gift from God. But God didn’t intend for you to be weighed down with that guilt for the rest of your life.

  5. The GOOD NEWS is that Jesus Christ can forgive you of sin.  He took the punishment and death we all deserve. Ask Him to forgive you. The Bible says "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

  6. Now, He wants to you come to Him. Prayer is talking to God.  It doesn’t have to be religious or complex. Just come and talk with God from the honesty of your heart.

  • Confess your sin to Him—tell Him what you’ve done. It’s not that He doesn’t know what the sin is, but the confession unloads the weight from your heart when you tell Him.

  • Ask Jesus to forgive you. He went to the Cross of Calvary, took the punishment for sin, and said these words "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34) He said that for those who had crucified Him; He said that for you and me. No matter what you have done, Jesus loves you; He can forgive you.

  • Surrender your life to Him. Ask the One who made you, to now lead your life. He has a plan and purpose for you; ask Him to be your Lord and to save you from your sins. Ask Him to come into your heart and give you life forever with Him. You can know that when you die, you will live forever with Him. However, this decision will not just effect where you spend eternity. Relationship with Jesus gives you peace, hope, and life with Him NOW.

  • Receive His forgiveness. Receive Him. The Bible says "take the mercy, accept the help…" (Hebrews 4:16 Message) He loves you and you are His. You are forgiven.

  1. Now its time to REJOICE! You’ve got a new life, and a new beginning. The Bible says ""If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17)

  1. Come find strength and joy with other believers. That’s where we come in. The Grace Christian Center invites you to fellowship and worship Jesus with us. Tell us of your decision.
